Bio

Patricia Daiker - Better Diabetes Life

I am a registered nurse with nearly 40 years of experience, from the Emergency Room to the boardroom as a healthcare IT executive. I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 26, and like many, I found that the medical care I received didn’t fully address the emotional and social impact of the condition. Driven by tenacity, I looked within and found ways to manage my diabetes that aligned with my goals and beliefs. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I was regulating my nervous system and addressing my holistic needs.

Now, as a Nurse Coach, I use my clinical expertise, personal experience, and corporate skills to help people with diabetes navigate trauma, grief, and self-worth issues. I also teach holistic, guided meditations on Insight Timer, where I help individuals from around the world find peace and healing. I’m currently writing a book called Diabetes is a Narcissist, offering a framework to reclaim power and set boundaries with the condition. I enjoy speaking at health conferences and sharing my message on social platforms.

Coaching Style

My coaching style is compassionate, holistic, and grounded in personal experience. I believe everyone does the best with what they know, and when people struggle, it’s often because they lack the tools or support to find a better way. I love guiding people with diabetes to recognize that their feelings are valid, and perfection is not the goal — it's about doing your best each day. These frequent “aha” moments are as much a joy for me as for my clients. I combine my clinical background with a personalized, holistic approach that honors each unique person. I have a multi-modality approach using video tools, workbooks, group sessions and individual sessions to meet people a place that works for their needs. My foundation is establishing safety using polyvagal tools to calm the mind and body, so the wise spirit self can come forth to reveal deep personal insights.

Personal Philosophy

I believe wellness flourishes when there is flow in the body, peace in the mind, and connection of spirit. When all body systems, organs, energies, and tissues flow freely, the mind is soothed in a parasympathetic state and we remember to our innate connections to nature, others, source and ourselves, we experience feelings of wellbeing. Without this holistic trinity, we feel stagnation, frustration and isolation. I’ve lived with the challenges of diabetes and I can promise you there is peace and possibility despite the hardship. This philosophy now guides my work as I help others reclaim their identity, remove personal barriers and develop a new way that works in their world. Email me at patricia@betterdiabeteslife.com.

  • “Patricia became a beacon of light in the dark night that was my life. Her program provided me with a safe space to “be in my body” and an opportunity to finally address my pent-up emotions. I realized I had been living with unhealed grief and often resorted to denial as a coping mechanism. Once I processed all of this, I became more present and focused on managing my diabetes.”

Proudest Accomplishment

My proudest accomplishments are my kids! Despite all the risks and warnings about pregnancy and diabetes, I had two healthy babies at age 39 and 41. Today they are amazing adults making a difference in the world. I am so grateful I listened to my heart and not the critics.
